Baptism at 4 o’clock…be there!

On May 8th, one of our newer in2Action residents followed up on the call Jesus had placed on his heart. After talking it over with Chaplain Gene Palmo and weighing his life to date against the promises of God, this man decided to express his newfound faith by receiving the Christian sacrament of baptism.

And so it was that on the afternoon of May 8th, word went around the in2Action campus that our brother was going to be baptized at 4:00 p.m. in the pond out back. Deadlines for important paperwork could wait. Routine chores could wait. Everyone understood that there is no greater priority than standing witness as another soul was given new life in the Kingdom of God.

Our motto at in2Action is Crime Prevention Through Personal Redemption.

You’ll frequently see this simple mission statement show up on the side of our well-used vehicles and in our email signatures. However, what many might not realize is that this is the recovery strategy we’ve hung our hats on.

When a man takes seriously the call of God on his life, it follows as day after night that attitudes and resultant behaviors will change and trend in a positive direction.

The normative Christian journey is messy, to say the least. Great strides forward are often followed by periods of backsliding. “Two steps forward…one step back,” as they say.

When a man embraces a hope that is larger than his own personal story, it frees him up to live with the freedom to make different choices. The men at in2Action have an unparalleled hope to live for in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and receive practical help from other caring Christians as they seek to rebuild their lives.

Thank you for being part of the in2Action mission.

Financial support is key, of course. Additionally, we would ask that you keep everyone here at in2Action in your regular prayers. Yes, the programs we offer here are valuable. The grace and kindness our team exhibits really matter. The community resources we tap into light up a future of new possibilities. However, God’s blessing on the work we do is the very best we could ever hope for. He alone stirs the hearts of our residents.

Romans 6:4 (ESV)
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
