Volunteer Spotlight
My husband and I are leaders of a Small Group through our church, and the women of our group were looking for an on-going ministry opportunity. We found that opportunity through Dan Hanneken (who is also a member of our group) and in2Action. We receive a continually updated list of the birthdays of each resident at in2Action. As the birthday approaches, one of our ladies is assigned to that resident to call and ask what type of birthday cake he would like and also when would be a good time to deliver it.
Little did we know what a blessing it would turn out to be for each of us, as well as the “birthday boys!” The smiles and thank you’s we receive are very special, as well as getting to interact with the residents in a personal way. One comment one of our ladies recently heard was especially heart-warming; her “birthday boy” stated that this was the first birthday cake he had ever received!
Needless to say, we are very privileged to play a small part in helping the residents at In2Action know how much we care.
